Randy Pausch - The Last Lecture
I’m sure we have all had those “moments” in life…
The one’s that leave you completely speechless and at a total loss for words.
A moment in time where you feel completely clueless while sitting there contemplating the big questions…
Questions like “Why”?
Questions like “What If”?
Last night…
I experienced one of those moments as I watched Primetime Special with Diane Sawyer that highlighted the last six months in the life of Randy Pausch.
I, like million’s of others, was introduced to Pausch through his “Last Lecture” video on you tube. Pausch had been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer and he was given 3-6 months to live in Sept of 2006.
On Sept 18, 2007 before a packed McConomy Auditorium, Professor Randy Pausch (Oct. 23, 1960 - July 25, 2008) gave his last lecture before a packed house of family, friends, students, and colleagues.
In his moving presentation, “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams,” Pausch talked about his lessons learned and gave advice to students on how to achieve their own career and personal goals.
In both in the “Last Lecture” and in three separate interviews over a series of months with Diane Sawyer, Pausch addresses the questions…
What if “you” had only six months to live, what would you do?
How would “you” live your life?
Pausch’s answers to these questions are thought-provoking and extraordinary.
And they certainly give you more than enough reason to sit and contemplate…
“Why”?
“What If”?
Randy Pausch - The Last Lecture
Are you “running into a brick wall”?
“The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out, the brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough.” Professor Randy Puasch
Rest in peace, Professor
If you only had six months to live…
How would You live your life?

Well, indeed, thanx John, for sharing Professor Randy’s last lecture with us, here. These are the true sentiments of a human being matter-of-factly in a situation like the one the erudite professor found himself in (”what if…”). In such times, the materislistically driven contemporary human psyche gets a jolt back to the basic truth of life and one’s natural instincts drive one to enliven the fundamental motives, burning the midnight oil to make sure there’s no confrontation with remorse and repentence at the culminating moment.
Hence, let’s all vow to adhere faithfully to the basic human values, instincts, character and duties so that we live our lives in a remorseless and contented manner making optimum use of every hour, every moment bestowed on us by the Almighty.
Thanx again, John, for sharing the soul-sterring happenstance with us. Also, thanx for your valuable comments on my Blog posts. Do stay in touch.
